Supply Chain Management and Integration
Modern procurement methods actively promote the integration of the supply chain into the delivery of the service. Many Partnerships have failed to devolve the Partnering process beyond the relationship between the main Contractor and the Client. In many instances, the relationship at the top table has been based around the principles of Partnering whilst the relationship between the maintenance Contractor and their supply chain has remained traditional.
In our opinion, Partnering will only deliver its potential if the ethos is passed through the supply chain from top to bottom.
echelon have worked closely with the supply chains on several major Partnering schemes to ensure they fully engaged in the Partnering process. This includes the following key processes:-
- Developing back to back contracts.
- Back to back payment terms.
- Specific supply chain KPI’s.
- Involvement of key supply chain members in Core Groups.
- Achieving efficiency through bulk purchasing.
- Removal of retentions.
This approach has ensured that the ethos runs through the Partnerships we have developed and we have had very positive feedback from the suppliers and specialist Contractors.
We have developed good working links with all major suppliers as well as numerous specialist Contractors, many of whom have engaged us directly to work on other Partnerships in which they are involved.
